Former APA Coach Eric Caler lands college coaching position

Coach Caler got his first start in the college coaching world at Advance Prep Academy (APA), an elite post-graduate program in Auburndale, FL. As an entry-level college coach at APA, Caler was able to immerse himself in the core elements of coaching, including recruiting, player development, andplayer engagement. His time at APA was instrumental in shaping his coaching philosophy, helping him understand the importance of building strong relationships with players, developing talent both on and off the field, and navigating the recruiting process.

This foundational experience gave Caler a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to build a successful program and connect with athletes on a personal level. It was during this time that he honed his skills in motivating players, refining their technique, and preparing them for the next level of competition.

Coaching Experience:

  • Allen University (Columbia, SC): Prior to joining EWU, Caler served as the Wide Receivers Coach and Head Track & Field Coach at Allen University. His dual role allowed him to hone his skills in both football and track, developing well-rounded athletes and helping the school’s football team improve on the field.
  • Lake Erie College (Painesville, OH): Caler also coached at Lake Erie College, where he focused on player development, especially in the wide receiver position. His coaching helped enhance the team’s offensive performance.
  • Highland Community College (Highland, KS): Caler began his coaching career at Highland Community College, where he gained valuable experience working with various football position groups and players, establishing the foundation for his future successes.
